Kiddos in the Kirk

On the second and fourth Mondays of each month, our kids come after school for a time of music, wonder, and play! Structured like a mini Vacation Bible School, our kids enjoy a healthy snack, singing, bible lessons, and recreation. Open to all kids in the community, this opportunity is a chance for our children to grow in relationship with one another, with the God who loves them, and with adults who care for and cherish them.

Vacation Bible School

Each year in June, FPC partners with other local churches to host a community-wide Vacation Bible School, featuring an exciting theme with impactful lessons, art and science projects, music, and recreation. This time of spiritual curiosity and creative exploration is transformational–and a whole lot of fun!

Youth Group

Each week, our 6th-12th graders spend time together through Sunday School, service projects, pastor-led discussions, or fun adventures. These gatherings are aimed at mutual fellowship and living out our life of faith in our community.

Montreat

Every summer, our High Schoolers attend the national Montreat Youth Conference in the mountains of North Carolina. There, with hundreds of other youth, they gather for a week of small groups, recreation, music, and worship. This beloved week is one of great bonding within our youth group and a chance to meet friends of faith beyond our town.

Gatekeepers

During the second week in July, our youth join youth across the county to serve our neighbors by repairing houses and organizations, landscaping, and living out our faith in the community. This is an intergenerational week of hard, hot work among youth and adult volunteers from a number of Rocky Mount churches. Working together, we practice our faith by investing it in our surrounding neighborhoods.

Confirmation

When students are in the 7th-8th grade, they are invited to go through our Confirmation class. Generally having been baptized as infants (though it’s absolutely okay if they haven’t yet been baptized!!), Confirmation is the chance for youth to make their own vows of faith. Working with the pastors and congregational mentors, our youth learn about scripture, the Holy Trinity, church doctrines, and relational mission.

Small Groups

To sign up for any of these groups or to receive more information, contact the church office at office@fpcrm.org.

Sip & Chat

This group meets monthly in living rooms across town to fellowship and discuss a book or podcast of choice, engaging thinkers like Kate Bowler, Rachel Held Evans, and Jen Hatmaker.

Young Adults

This group of 18-35ish year-old meets regularly to connect, catch-up, eat together, and play trivia at Westridge Grill. We almost won…once!

In-Betweens

This is a fun-loving group of retirees (or nearly retired!) who meet for dinner in members homes every other month for a time of friendship, fellowship, and support.

Classes

Brown Bag Bible Study

On Mondays at 12pm, we offer a traditional bible study for any who want to drop in. We chat, pray, and dive into the Word. Join us as we journey through First Corinthians!

Lectionary Study

This 6:45pm Wednesday class moves through the Revised Common Lectionary, exploring the four passages for the upcoming Sunday. What do these texts have in common? What do they tell us about God? What message do they speak for us in our world today?

PEP Sunday School Class

This group meets weekly for laughter, prayer, and study. We consult scripture, learn from theologians, and discuss our faith together.

Presbyterian Women

Our Presbyterian Women meet each month to support each other, care for the congregation, and complete a Horizons bible study. This year, they are consulting the “Celebrating Sabbath” curriculum.
