“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35
Our Diaconate helps support the pastoral care efforts of the ordained staff by visiting with the sick and homebound and making sure that needs within the congregation are communicated effectively.
First Presbyterian Church is a Stephen Ministry congregation, and we have a large number of trained caregivers ready to respond to those in need of a pastoral, loving presence in difficult times. If you are hurting and think you may benefit from confidential, one-to-one Christian care, please contact the pastor by clicking here.
A number of our members have accepted special responsibility for delivering flowers to homebound people, preparing meals for families who have lost a loved one, and maintaining a supply of casseroles and other freezer-friendly meals for those in need of assistance from time to time.
Because our congregation is part of “the one holy catholic and apostolic church” (Nicene Creed), we participate in the special offerings taken throughout the year as promoted by our denomination. Through occasional “Minutes for Mission,” we share in worship how our church is connected to other Christians in mission and ministry.
